Sprinting Out West

The first two days of this trip have seen us travel 850 miles.

We’ve been fortunate to only have one 20-minute-long traffic standstill. Other than that, it has pretty much been smooth sailing so far!

The first day we really just wanted to make some good time, heading out west. Our first scheduled stop was Nashville, Tennesse.

We briefly visited the Grand Ole Opry, Nissan Stadium (home of the Tennessee Titans), and drove down Broadway.

We all enjoyed driving down Broadway in Nashville and hearing all the bands playing!!

We continued west and spent the night in Jackson, Tennessee. As you can imagine, Jackson was a pretty big fan of this town! Haha!

We started Day 2 with a 1 hour and 20-minute drive to the Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid in Memphis, Tennessee.

It is HUGE!!!!

This place is so cool! If you are in the area, we have deemed this a must-visit! You kind of forget you’re in the middle of a big city when you walk into the pyramid!

We also decided to take the elevator up to the observation deck! It takes you up 28 stories and is the tallest freestanding elevator in the United States!

The views of the city and the Mississippi River were amazing!

Another reason the boys were excited to visit the observation deck was because their favorite Youtubers, Dude Perfect, had done a trick shot from up there. They threw a football from the top and made it in a basketball ball goal.

We wondered how may tries it must have taken from way up there!

After leaving Memphis, we made the nearly 3-hour drive to Hot Springs National Park, which is just west of Little Rock.

We all found this Park to be underwhelming.

When we think of National Parks, we typically think of beautiful scenery and amazing wildlife.

I guess you could say, this isn’t your typical National Park. It could also be that we didn’t have a huge amount of time to spend here.

The main attraction of the park is a row of bath houses along main street in the town of Hot Springs. The visitor center had a self-guided tour of an old bath house and explained how they used the hot springs years ago.

I mean, look how excited Shannon is!!

Our favorite part of the park was actually seeing one of the hot springs! The water was hot enough that you couldn’t leave your hand in it for long.

Arkansas was a new state for all of us! Tomorrow, we will be crossing into Texas, which will be another new one for the boys!
